Bovine colostrum is safe, non-toxic and can be consumed in any quantity without side-effects or drug interactions. Colostrum contains special enzymes that prevent its immune and growth factors from being digested. A recent article written by Robert Preston, ND, President of the International Institute of Nutritional Research states, "Bovine colostrum is safe. It contains an unprecedented combination of nutritional factors with which to fortify the immune system. Colostrum is so harmless, it has been prepared by nature as the first food for infants, intended as their total diet for the first 24 hours." He states, "it would be hard to imagine any nutritional substance more natural or beneficial than colostrum. It is safe for internal consumption by children, adults and animals."
Most people who take colostrum feel better right away; some go through a rough "healing crisis" reporting flu-like symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, headache, coughing up phlegm, skin rashes and low grade fever. This usually lasts only a couple of days. The body is ridding itself of long-accumulated toxins, locked in the body's tissues and fat deposits that have suppressed the immune system and encourage disease. Do not decrease colostrum use at this time. In fact, this might be a good time to temporarily increase the dose of colostrum. Most people with disease are feeling so bad anyway that the knowledge their their body is healing can pull them through the hard times.
The Sovereign Health Initiative is committed to the belief that each person holds sovereignty over his or her body. We further support the principle that in order to take ownership of one’s health, it is necessary to make informed decisions through self-education. To this end, it is our aim to offer critical information to educate the public on how to live a lifetime in optimal health.
